Can this gang beat Vikings 2 ?

A very close and exciting game -if not always well played- between the Ruins and Vikings 2, where the game could have gone either way. But the home team pulled it through in spectacular fashion right at the end.

A sneak by QB Don Jess early in the game gave Hamar a 6-0 lead. However, the Vikings quickly responded when TB Per Estein Røhjell broke through for a TD. The 2-point conversion was good, and the Vikes led by 8-6. The Vikings opened the 2nd half by scoring a new touchdown on a pass to QB-turned-FB Gaute Engebretsen. Once again the two-point conversion was good, and the Vikes seemed to be in control. But later in the 3rd quarter Hamar came back on a superb play by QB Jess, who found Magne Tvinnerheim open in the endzone. 16-12, and the scene was set for a nerve-wrecking finish. With less than three minutes to go the Vikings struggled to move the ball as Hamar LB Erik Fjellum and DE Espen Bjerva both recorded sacks. On the fourth down, deep in their own territory, the Vikings took an intentional safety. The score was now 16-14. K Lasse André Vangstein sent the free kick deep down into Ruins territory. Don Jess answered with a long pass to Thomas Hoelseth, and a few downs later he found his favorite target, receiver Kjetil Sveen, who scored with 45 seconds left on the clock. OSI tried to get back, but Hamars defense stood firm as time ran out.

All in all, a heck of a game which ended with a sweet taste for the Ruins and a sour one for the Vikings 2. These two teams face each other again next week in Oslo, in a game that may decide the 2nd division East title and thus who goes to the playoffs. If Hamar win they are ready for the playoffs. If Vikings 2 win by more than 4 points, they must beat Bærum by at least 30 points to enter the playoffs. If Vikings 2 win and then lose to Bærum, the Blue Devils will go to the playoffs. If Vikings 2 win and beat Bærum by less than 30 points, Hamar will go to the playoffs.....
