The Blue Devils gangtackling a Ruin

A cold and snowy day in Bærum turned into a nightmare for the Ruins (and the spectators). The Bærum side fielded a squad of only 13 players (down to 12 early in the game due to injury) while the Ruins had about 23. Both teams struggled to produce efficient offense, but the Bærum double wing slowly started producing yards; the Hamar defense simply became too small to withstand the continous pounding provided by the Blue Devils.  The Ruins offense showed sparks of talent but just couldn't get into a rhytm. Bærums size and experience clearly shifted the game in their favor as time wore on. Late in the 4th quarter the Ruins had a chance to stage a -for Norwegian standards- rare comeback. A 25 yard run ended in a TD, but the Ruins couldn't convert the 2-pointer when QB Don Jess failed to get the ball into the hands of a wide open receiver and was sacked. On the ensuing kickoff Ruins went for an onside kick, but it too failed. Then they got the ball back with a few minutes left on the clock. A long pass from Jess was right on the money, but the wide receiver just could not adjust to the ball. On the next play time ran out as Jess was sacked by an aggressive Blue Devils defense led by mammoth lineman Erik Tengs Haugen and LB Christian Hermansen. All in all; a surprise, but still a boring game.
